A full consultation will be carried out on
every client prior to their service. For cuts and
restyling etc the consultation will be carried out just
before the service, however with colouring the
consultation will need to be carried out at least 48 hours
prior to service. This will enable us to determine what
product and methods are to be used, the shade of tints to
be used, and for the appropriate tests to be carried out
to ensure that the hair is in the condition required and
no reactions will occur. Also at this stage for colouring
a £20 deposit will need to be paid to confirm the
appointment. |

Skin
Tests |
|
A skin test determines whether the client
will have an allergic reaction to the products used. It
needs to be carried out at least 48 hours prior to the
colour service, to ensure a reaction will not happen. Once
this test is carried out it will last for 6 months, and
after that period you will need to be tested again. This
is done by: - mixing a small amount of tint with a small
amount of peroxide. A small amount is then placed on the
skin, either behind the ear, on the crease of the arm or
behind the knee. Then left for 48 hours. If a reaction
occurs then the service will not be able to proceed. |

This test is only required for quasi
permanent and permanent services, and not for semi
permanent or bleach. |

Incompatibility Tests |
|
This test is carried out prior to a
chemical service. It will determine if metallic salts are
found in the hair, which can cause damage to the hair
structure and affecting any chemical used. If metallic
salts are found a chemical service will not be able to
proceed, but a course of re-structurants and conditioning
treatments will be recommended. This test is done by:-
cutting a very small section of hair and placing it into a
plastic bowl, then a mix of peroxide and perm solution is
placed in the bowl, and left for 30 minutes. |
